Tirana: Saudi Arabia's Ramadan "Eta'am" scheme, which distributes food packages during the holy month, aims to send 156,993 food baskets weighing 8,430 tons to 19 countries this year. The project will benefit more than 900,000 people, Arab News reported, citing Saudi Press Agency.

The initiative is among one the humanitarian projects carried out by Saudi, which are represented by KSrelief to deserving countries.

In Albania, The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center of Saudi, cooperating with Albanian Islamic Sheikhdom, started a Ramadan food basket distribution. The event was attended by the Saudi Deputy Ambassador to Albania Abdullah Al-Shehri, President of the Albanian Islamic Sheikhdom Sheikh Bujar Sepahiu, Grand Mufti of Albania Sheikh Sina Lachini, along with a KSrelief team and Albanian officials. Here, the Kingdom will distribute 5,514 food baskets in 31 cities and 27, 570 people will be benefited.

Saudi's KSrelief has distributed 13 tons plus Ramadan food baskets in the city of Ferizaj in Kosovo. It had benefited 220 families. It targets 9,625 packets in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe, aiding 51,400 people. In Niger, 1,000 baskets were already distributed, helping 5,000 individuals. Here baskets include food items sufficient for one family for a month.
