text_fieldsThe Dhofar Municipality is organizing an extensive line-up for the Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) Season 2025. It promises a vibrant mix of cultural, entertainment and sporting events designed to draw visitors from across Oman and beyond.
According to Ammar Oubaid Gawas, Director of Events and Awareness at the municipality, Attin Square is a highlight of this year’s program. It features one of the world’s largest inflatable play cities, a technologically advanced stage, eco-friendly fireworks, drone shows and folklore performances from 18 countries. Visitors can also explore markets dedicated to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and products from Omani entrepreneurs.
The Attin Plain’s Modern Waterfront offers a full family entertainment experience with a scenic walkway, a children’s zone, a “princesses’ palace" and a variety of restaurants and food trucks. It is also home to “Awdah,” an event that recreates traditional Omani life with heritage markets, folk arts and handicrafts.
Other venues include Awqad Park, branded as “Children’s Time,” which focuses on educational and recreational activities for children and Salalah Park or the “Healthy Park”, featuring sports paths and fitness challenges for all ages.
Complementing the main attractions are events such as “Awsara,” “Avicenna”, and “Al Gharf,” along with the Frankincense Market and Al Haffa Beach Market. Activities will also take place in Taqa, Mirbat and Sadah.
This year’s season will host major international sporting events, including the Salalah International Cycling Tour, the Dhofar International Sand Drag Race Championship and a traditional weapons shooting competition.
Gawas emphasised that the municipality has prioritised showcasing Omani identity, with more than 1,000 national projects for productive families and entrepreneurs. All event operations have been assigned to Omani companies, supporting local businesses and youth-driven initiatives while positioning the Khareef season as a platform for sustainable development.
