New Delhi: A nationwide report on workplace mental health has found that over 90% of corporate employees under the age of 25 showed symptoms of anxiety, The News Minute reported.

The anxiety symptoms among this age group stood at this stunning proportion compared to 67% of those aged over 45.

Employee assistance programme provider, 1to1help, compiled the ‘State of Emotional Well-being Report 2024,’ after analyzing data from more than 83,000 counselling sessions, 12,000 screenings, and 42,000 assessments held between January and November 2024.

The report points to the burgeoning mental health challenges that young workforce face, while emphasizing the need for ‘structured organisational support’.

The report found a rise in using counselling services in 2024 compared to previous years; notably, anxiety, depression and stress made up 15% of the total sessions.

Of them, 23 percent of the session recorded work place relationship issues as the most frequently discussed topic followed by work-related concerns at 11%.

Individuals under 30 reported severe symptoms of depression and anxiety stemming probably from factors such as relocation, career transitions, and relationship struggles during early adulthood.

The reports suggested organisations support younger employees by offering flexible work environs, fostering open communication, and creating opportunities for professional growth.

Pointing to concern of suicide risk among employees, the report said that the cases rose from 19% in 2023 to 22% in 2024.

A shocking 59% of employees showed signs of self-harm calling for need to identify and assist staff in distress.

Men accounted for 70 percent of consultations linked to financial anxiety and women made up 52 per cent of all counselling sessions despite lower representation in workforce.
