Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the murder of a 5-year-old girl in Aluva, will visit Bihar for a detailed inquiry into the criminal background of the accused Asfaq Alam.

The victim Chandini, daughter of migrant workers from Bihar, was abducted from her house and lured by the accused by providing her with a juice pack on Friday afternoon.

The victim’s body was recovered on Saturday morning, 21 hours after she went missing.

When Asfaq was arrested on Friday night after identifying him from CCTV visuals, he was in a highly inebriated state and said that he had handed over the victim to a friend named Sakeer for money.

However, on Saturday morning he confessed that he had sexually abused and killed the victim, and later dumped her body in a sack near the Aluva market.

The accused has been lodged in Aluva Sub jail and the SIT will head to Bihar to ascertain whether he is involved in any other cases in his home state.

Meanwhile, the deceased girl was cremated at a public crematorium under Hindu religious beliefs.
