KAS valuation: PSC to probe leak of examiners’ details

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Public Service Commission has announced an internal vigilance enquiry into the leak of details of examiners deployed for valuation of Kerala Administrative Service  (KAS) examination.

The meeting convened here on Tuesday resolved to take the issue seriously and asked the Secretary to take further steps to prevent such incidents in the future.

The PSC could not valuate about 9000 OMR sheets of the examination due to low quality of the papers.

The Deputy Secretary had ordered manual valuation of these papers and deployed 21 officers for it. This order was released by BJP leader Sandeep Warrier in Facebook.

The order was copied to the exam controller, various joint secretaries, deputy secretaries and undersecretaries and several department heads.  Hence, the Commission approved the PSC secretary’s report suggesting a comprehensive investigation to locate the point of leakage.

The Commission has decided to release the results of KAS preliminary examination.

The Commission also decided to deploy more officials for the valuation.

The Chairman MK Sakeer informed the meeting that the allegation that the manual valuation is to recruit CPM sympathisers,  was illogical.

Only Part-B of the OMR sheets are given to the officials. The result is published only after marking the scores before combining Parts A and B.

The meeting also assigned the exam controller to submit a report to conduct the examinations, that were cancelled due to lockdown measures, after consulting school authorities.

The interviews will be started on 1st July.

The commission also approved the special rules regarding the faculty appointment in DIET – a faculty training centre under the education department.
