Assault on 7 year old boy: Police asks for the custody of culprit

Thodupuzha: Investigation team on Monday approached the court for the custody of Arun Anand for detailed questioning, who was arrested for the brutal beating of a 7-year old boy. A case of POCSO was also charged against him for sexually assaulting the young child.  Police is also collecting scientific evidence against Arun.

Mother of the seven year old child, w ho at first was reluctant, is now cooperating with the investigation, said  Circle Inspector Abhilash David.

The younger sibling was alone when the 7-year old boy was taken to hospital after the brutal beating. The younger sibling feared of scolding, wiped the blood stain remained in the house, the mother said to police.

This statement was similar to the words of the younger sibling.

Arun and the mother used to  go out regularly after locking children at home. This was for making the children self-sufficient.

 Arun had kept weapons in the car for self defence.  He also forced her to withdraw the amount of more than three lakh rupees that was in the name of children, deposited by friends of her first husband,  the mother said in her statement given to Police.

Both the mother's and her second child’s statement are expected to support the evidence against the culprit.
