Liquor bottles found in surprise check at TVM General Hospital

Thiruvananthapuram: Liquor and beer bottles were found in a lighting inspection conducted by Health Minister K K Shailaja at Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital.

The Minister reached the hospital around eight in the morning and conducted the search for one and half hours. Majority of the doctors including the hospital superintendent had not reported for duty when the Minister arrived.

Blood-stained cotton and other wastes were also found abandoned in the wards and rooms. The minister publicly admonished the hospital employees for putting the bottles in a corner and warned them that they will lose their jobs if they did not clean up the place.

She conducted the surprise search following several complaints from patients.
