Kochi: In his maiden presidential visit to Kochi-Muziris Biennale, President Pranab Mukherjee will have a first-hand experience of the spectacular contemporary art event, where he will also inaugurate a seminar on Importance of sustainable culture building on Thursday.

In view of security reasons, both Aspinwall House and Cabral Yard will be closed for the day, but other Biennale venues will remain open and there will be free entry on that day, a KMB press release said today.

Kerala Governor Chief Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will address the gathering, while Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran will deliver the welcome address at the function that begins at 4 PM. Kochi Corporation Mayor Soumini Jain, Prof K V Thomas MP, K J Maxi MLA and Kerala Tourism Principal Secretary Dr Venu V will be present. Kochi Biennale Foundation President Bose Krishnamachari will deliver the vote of thanks.

After the inaugural function, the seminar will begin on Importance of sustainable culture- building. Renowned poet Ashok Vajpeyi, Biennale co-founder and artist Riyas Komu and acclaimed Malayalam poet K Satchidanandan are the panelists,while Prof M V Narayanan will moderate the session, the release said.
