New Delhi: RSP leader and Lok Sabha member N K Premachandran has been selected for the Best Parliamentarian Award for 2016 by a leading media group for his contribution to strengthening the parliamentary democracy and its value system.

The award will be conferred on him by Vice President Hamid Ansari and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan during the upcoming session of Parliament, according to the announcement by the Lokmat Media Group which publishes newspapers in Marathi, Hindi and English languages.

"The eminent members of the Board of Jury undertook an extensive exercise in selecting parliamentarians and shuffled through the massive records of parliamentary proceedings," said the media house.

It said the board of jury was unanimous in selecting Premachandran for the Best Parliamentarian Award in Lok Sabha for his "glorious contribution in strengthening parliamentary democracy, its value system and upholding traditions and conventions during 2016."

The 57-year-old member of Lok Sabha from Kollam in Kerala is a central secretariat member of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP).
