BJP seeks stringent action against IPS officer Tomin Thachankerry

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP in the State Thursday wanted the Centre to take stringent action against senior IPS officer Tomin J Thachankerry, against whom serious allegations have been raised.

In a letter to Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan said former DGP T P Senkumar had, while relinquishing office, raised serious allegations against Thachankerry, including that he had taken away files that were extremely confidential in nature from the police headquarters.

Thachankerry, ADGP headquarters, was also said to have been allegedly involved in many anti-national activities in the past like meeting people with terror links at Qatar, he said.

The case was later closed after severe warning was issued, the BJP leader said in his letter.

There are also various vigilance cases pending against the officer, Rajasekharan said, adding, he was allegedly being protected by both the ruling LDF and oppostition UDF.
