Government to go ahead with controversial hydroelectric project

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government has decided to go ahead with Athirapilly hydroelectric project despite the huge opposition. Electricity minister M.M. Mani informed the legislative assembly that the land acquiring process for the 163 MW project has begun.

He was replying to the question raised by N. Shamsuddin MLA. CPI, coalition partner of the LDF government, had also strongly opposed the project.
