Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said the BJP-led NDA government’s act of presenting the budget on Wednesday despite the death of E Ahamed, a senior member of the Parliament, was unfortunate and impoliteness.

“It was in the Parliament building Ahamed, a former Union minster, suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed some hours ago. Despite his death in a hospital later, the Central government went ahead with Budget presentation hurting the sentiments of Parliament members,” Vijayan said.

“He is a leader who had been a member of the Parliament for a long time. Many MPs had very close relationship with him. Ahamed is a Parliamentarian who spoke for India even in the United Nations.

“The Central government went ahead with budget presentation while it was supposed to be paying homage to the late leader. That was wrong. That was an act of insulting the democratic consciousness of the country,” Pinarayi said adding "such an unfortunate incident should have never happened."
