Thiruvananthapuram: CPI-M in the state on Sunday said the BJP had raised allegations of political violence against the Marxist party only to divert public attention from the brutality being perpetrated by RSS in Kannur district.

“The BJP should first rein in their workers only after which the party leaders should talk about political violence in Kerala,” CPI-M State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said in a statement.

A BJP delegation had today met Governor, Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam listing out “various instances of political violence by CPI(M)” in Kannur and wanted a probe by CBI or by a sitting judge of the Supreme court or Kerala High Court in the incidents.

“BJP had sent the delegation only to divert public attention from the violence unleashed by RSS in Kannur. If the RSS workers lay down their arms in Kerala, political violence will end”, he said.

After the assembly elections, incidents of violence and murders unleashed by RSS have increased, he alleged adding since the last four months, four CPI-M workers have been murdered, 35 party offices, 80 houses have been attacked by RSS and over 300 workers have been injured.

Instead of putting an end to political violence, he said RSS and BJP were “enacting a drama which the people of the state will not accept”.
“In Delhi, the AKG Bhavan was attacked. Those who were behind the attack have now come to Kerala to probe into the violence in Kannur,” he alleged.
