New Delhi: Industries and Sports Minister E.P. Jayarajan on Sunday the visit by the delegation of BJP MPs in Kannur district is to cover up the violent attacks carried out by the party’s workers in the district.

“The BJP delegation’s visit is to cover up their own violence in Kannur. Nalin Kumar Kateel, who is a member of the delegation, is an accused in criimal cases. AFSPA should be imposed in Gujarat, not in kannur,” Jayarajan said.

Earlier, BJP National General Secretary Bhoopendra Yadav, who was heading the delegation, had demanded an independent probe by a High Court judge into the "increased political violence" in the district.

Yadav also demanded that central forces be deployed in the trouble torn areas of the district.

The BJP leaders Saturday visited the residences of BJP workers killed and injured in alleged attacks by CPI-M activists in the district.
