Thiruvananthapuram: Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) chairman V.S Achuthanandan Sunday sought a probe into the controversy over the appointment of Minister E.P Jayarajan’s relative in a public sector undertaking.

“A serious probe is needed into the matter and those responsible for it should be punished,” Achuthanandan told reporters.

When asked whether the appointment row tarnished the image of the government, the CPI-M veteran reacted: “no need of doubt”.

After the appointment became controversial, the LDF government had two days ago cancelled the appointment of P K Sudheer Nambiar, son of P K Sreemathi, MP and a relative of Industries Minister, E P Jayarajan as Managing Director of state-run Kerala State Industrial Enterprises LTD.
