Won’t allow airport in Aranmula: CM

Aranmula: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said the LDF government would not allow the controversial airport in Aranmula.
“The government has started procedures to cancel the ‘Industrial Area Declaration’ that was issued for the implementation of the project in Aranmula. The government does not support the project here,” the Chief Minister said at a gathering after launching paddy cultivation in Aranmula Puncha.
The programme, under the Harita Keralam project, was held as part of the government’s earnest efforts to revive paddy cultivation at Aranmula Puncha that has been lying fallow for the past several years.
Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar presided over the function held near the Cooperative Engineering College here.
Water Resources Minister Mathew T. Thomas, Veena George MLA, and Raju Narayanaswami, Food Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Agriculture), also addressed the function.
