Solar case: Vigilance court rejects plea against Shankar Reddy

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance court Tuesday rejected a plea alleging that former vigilance director Shankar Reddy suppressed petitions seeking probe into the solar scam.

Judge A. Badarudhin dismissed the plea citing that the allegations against Reddy were baseless.

The petitioner, Paichira Navas, had alleged that Shanker Reddy suppressed a set of petitions seeking action against then chief minister Oommen Chandy and power minister Aryadan Mohammed on the basis of solar scam accused Saritha S. Nair's claim that she bribed the two.

Reddy, in his letter to vigilance director Jacob Thomas, had said that there was an unholy nexus between some of the top officials in vigilance and the complainant Paichira Navas.

“The complaints against him repeatedly by the same petitioner are part of conspiracy,” he alleged.
