No one has right to shoot down those who voice their opinion: Kanam

Thiruvananthapuram: A day after two Maoists were killed in an alleged encounter with the police inside the Nilambur forests, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran Friday said it does not fit for a civilised society to silence those who raise voice over the tribal issues.
“No one has the right to shoot down those who voice their opinion,” said Kanam.
“The authorities should check whether there is anything wrong in the demands raised by people who work for tribals and scheduled caste people. Trying to silence their voices does not suit a civilsed society," he said.
On Thursday, two Maoists, including a woman, were killed in an alleged encounter with the police inside the Nilambur forests.
The police said that the encounter took place around 12 p.m. about 15 km inside the jungle from the Padukka forest station in the Karulai range of the Nilambur South division.
