Thiruvananthapuram: The city wore red on Wednesday as the LDF government led by Pinarayi Vijayan assumed office after a simple yet elegant swearing-in ceremony held at Central stadium in the evening.

The Governor administered the oath to Vijayan, the 12th Chief Minister of the state, and other ministers on a 64 feet long, 20 feet broad dais with a height of 16 feet.

Red was chosen as the prominent colour for the left government's function. Red clothes were on the background and floor of the stage. Red background was separated with gerbera and rose in red and white combination.

Over 20,000 flowers were used for the function, according to Palayam based Devi Flowers which supplied the flowers.

A sizeable number of people spilled the stadium, which has a capacity to accommodate 30,000 people, from many parts of the state to hear their favourite leaders taking the oath.

There were as many as eight large LCD screens at different parts of the stadium for the public to view the function even at a distance. In addition, more such screens were setup in different parts of the city to screen the function.
