Liquor lobby influencing CPI-M politburo: Chennithala

Thiruvananthapuram: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala Monday hit out at the CPI(M) for its liquor policy, saying that the liquor lobby was even influencing the Politburo.

“Yechury’s stand on the liquor policy is opportunistic,” said Chennithala.

On Sunday, the congress leader on his Facebook page had alleged that the liquor lobby was tightening it's grip on the CPI(M).

“Yechuri changed his stand owing to the pressure from leaders like Pinarayi,” he said.

On Saturday, Yechuri had ridiculed the UDF government’s liquor policy, saying that the state had become a thriving ground for five star hotels.

He had also said that the closed bars in the state would not be reopened if the LDF comes to power through the Assembly polls.
