Actor Salim Kumar quits ‘Amma’

Thiruvananthapuram: Popular Malayalam actor Salim Kumar on Friday resigned from the organization of Malayalam actors, ‘Amma.’

The move is apparently in protest against actor Mohanlal’s act of campaigning for LDF candidate in Pathanapuram, Ganesh Kumar.

In the resignation letter sent to ‘Amma’ secretary Mammootty, Salim Kumar said that the act of Mohanlal was against the unwritten-rule of ‘Ammma’ that actors should not campaign for an actor-candidate if his opponent in the constituency is also from the film industry.

Salim Kumar said Mohanlal, who himself is a person in charge of Amma, broke the law by campaigning for Ganesh Kumar.

The other prominent candidates in the constituency are actor Jagadish of Congress and Bheeman Raghu of the BJP.
