Thiruvananthapuram: Popular film stars Jagdish and Siddiq have found place in the draft list of the Congress candidates which is being finalised for the upcoming assembly elections, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) said on Wednesday.

Sources in the KPCC party told IANS that the draft list was prepared at the grassroots and has already been submitted to the top leadership of the party. The final list is expected to be out on March 10.

Jagdish, a hugely popular comedian and character artiste who has been in the industry for the past three decades, has been drafted to take on his fellow actor and three-time legislator K.B. Ganesh Kumar from the Pathanapauram assembly constituency.

Comedian and actor Siddiq is tipped to be fielded from the Aroor constituency in Alappuzha district.

Speaking to IANS, Siddiq said that he people are asking about his opinion on the issue.

Jagdish, however, is tight lipped and prefers to wait till an official statement comes from the Congress party.

Jagdish had campaigned for Congress-led UDF candidates during the 2011 assembly polls and his name has been in the air for a while.

Siddiq has recently interviewed Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for a leading media house and since then tongues have been wagging that he might finally end up as a Congress candidate.
