Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday decided to constitute fact finding committees for four zones of the state to look into the reasons for party led UDF’s poor performance in the May 16 Assembly polls.

KPCC President V M Sudheeran said several complaints had been received from various quarters on the party’s poor performance in the election. “So KPCC decided to constitute fact finding committees for four zones of the state,” he said after conclusion of a special two-day camp at Neyar, about 50 km from Thiruvananthapuram.

The committees have been asked to submit reports within three weeks, Sudheeran said. There would be a total revamp in the organisational set up, from the booth to KPCC level, he said.

With a view to rejuvenate the party, it was decided to prepare a vision document, Sudheeran said,

adding Congress legislator V D Sateeshan has been appointed as convener of the sub-committee to prepare the document. Stating that everyone was responsible for the Congress defeat, he said the party would go forward unitedly and rectification would be carried out wherever necessary.

He also said that there would not be any reconsideration in the UDF’s liquor policy. The two-day camp also witnessed leaders criticizing the leadership for the poll debacle.

Congress, lead partner in the UDF, got 22 seats, while its second largest partner IUML won 18, Kerala Congress (M) six and Kerala Congress (J) one seat in the May 16 polls.
