Transgenders find mention in Isaac’s budget speech

Thiruvananthapuram: For the first time in the state budget, the transgender community found a mention in Finance Minister Thomas Isaac’s budget speech for 2016-17 in the Assembly on Friday.

Announcing the state’s budget, the finance minister said pension would be given for transgenders over the age of 60.

“Special educational aid will also be provided for students from the community,” he said.
