Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has recorded former Minister E.P Jayarajan’s statement in the case related to controversial appointments of relatives in key posts in state public sector undertakings.

Jayarajan has reportedly told the Vigilance that he had given a letter to the secretary to the Industries department asking him to make the appointments based on the qualifications and norms.

The Vigilance has also recorded the statement of Paul Antony, secretary to Industries department, in the case.

Jayarajan had resigned from the Pinarayi cabinet in the wake of the raging row over appointment of P K Sudheer, his nephew, as the Managing Director of Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Ltd. Following the controversy, the appointment was later quashed by the government.
