Bomb attack at Village office in T'puram, seven injured

Thiruvananthapuram: The Village office at Vellarada in the district witnessed a shocking incident in the morning Thursday as assailant threw a bomb at the office injuring seven persons, including Village officials.

The condition of Village Assistance Venugopal is said to be critical.

Furniture, several files and other records were destroyed in the fire.

Fire force officials from Neyyatinkara and Parassala units were called in to douse the fire.

The incident happened around 11 am when a miscreant, who came on a motorbike, through a box into the office and tried to set it afire with a matchstick. However, the bomb inside the box went off even before it caught the fire. The offender fled the scene after the incident.

Apart from the officials in the Village office, people who came to the office for different needs were also injured in the blast.

The reason of the attack is yet to be ascertained.
