UP Jail gets fake 'President’s order' to free murder accused, FIR filed
text_fieldsSaharanpur: A forged presidential order directing the release of a murder accused was sent to the Saharanpur district jail, prompting officials to launch an investigation and file an FIR, authorities said on Sunday.
Senior Jail Superintendent Satyaprakash stated that the fake order, purportedly issued in the name of the President of India, was for the release of an inmate named Ajay, who is currently facing trial in a murder case.
"The jail administration found the document suspicious as it claimed to be from the 'President's Court'. Upon verification, it was confirmed that no such entity exists," Satyaprakash said, adding that someone had attempted to mislead jail officials with the forged order.
Taking the matter seriously, prison authorities immediately alerted the police. A case was subsequently registered at Janakpuri police station on Friday against unknown persons, and an investigation is underway to trace those behind the fraudulent attempt.
