UP Elections: Yogi promises Rs 900 stipend to hush up cow problems

Lucknow: Cow politics has been doing the round in the recent elections in UP. Unlike other elections, this time cow began to create problems even within the BJP for the reign of the cattle on the roads.

The opposition parties have run campaigns against the Yogi government's decision to shut all illegal "slaughterhouses". For them, the decision was a brainless one.

Among innumerable other short failings being echoed in the election campaign, the stray cow dealing is also disturbing the Yogi government.

Not just an election promise, it seems, the announcement of Rs 900 per month as stipend for those who protect cows is also an attempt by the Yogi government to cover up the shortcomings from the decision.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called on people to cast their vote for those who protect cows, not for those who kill them. He also predicted that the state will see all the butchers selling vegetable after March 10.

Though raising the Ayodhya Temple issue in the election campaigns is a violation of the election code of conduct, CM Yogi had no hesitation in stating that the Ram Temple in Ayodhya would not have been possible if there was Samajwadi Party at the rule in UP.

He also urged voters to not vote for those who ordered firing at Ram bhakts, and wanted them to answer against it through votes. Adityanath said and talked about changing the name of Faizabad to Ayodhya.
