Trinamool Congress questions President's absence at new parliament building event

New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress has raised concerns about whether President Draupadi Murmu was invited to the event held to commemorate the move to the new Parliament building in India's capital.
The event took place in the historic Central Hall of the old Parliament building and was presided over by Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. TMC leader Derek O'Brien questioned the absence of the President during this event and whether she had been invited.
This query arises in the context of previous objections from opposition parties regarding the President's absence at the inauguration of the new Parliament building in May. At that time, at least 21 opposition parties had boycotted the inauguration, contending that President Murmu should have been the one to inaugurate the new building instead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It's worth noting that the summoning and proroguing of sessions in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are carried out by the President based on the government's advice.
