Coimbatore: The diaries recovered from the 29-year-old engineering graduate, who was killed last week after his car loaded with two gas cylinders exploded near a temple here, suggest he was " self-radicalised" , according to a report in The Indian Express.

After Jamesha Mubeen died, police arrested in the case six suspects including his alleged associates Muhammed Azharuddin and K Afsar Khan.

Meanwhile, following the recommendation of the state government the National Investigation Agency ( NIA) on Thursday took over the case as directed by the Centre, filing an FIR on Friday.

The four diaries recovered from the home of Mubeen in Ukkadam here has entries such as a flowchart with names of Gods of other religions, notes on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, the hijab row in Karnataka, as well as describing Muslims as "second-class citizens", as per the report.

A senior official of Tamil Nadu police told Indian Express that the state police probe revealed some key aspects of the case.

The diaries were reportedly part of the literature, including books and reading materials, recovered from Mubeen's home.

The diary entries, as per the report, bespeaks Mubeen's understanding of other religions including Hinduism and Christianity. The handwritten flowchart that has arrows connecting one another detailed the names of Gods of these religions.

Coimbatore City Police Commissioner V Balakrishnan told the Indian Express that Mubeen's alleged associates Azharuddin and Afsar admitted that Mubeen had often mentioned the alleged "oppression' of Muslims.

The probe by the state police, as per the report quoting Balakrishnan, revealed that Mubeen who had no sophisticated bomb-marking skills was "self-radicalized".
