Supreme Court of India's YouTube channel hacked, replaced with cryptocurrency content

The official YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India was hacked on Friday, September 20, with hackers replacing videos of past hearings with cryptocurrency-related content.
The channel, known for streaming important hearings, now features videos promoting XRP, a cryptocurrency developed by Ripple Labs, a US-based company.
Hackers appear to have made previous hearing videos private and replaced them with cryptocurrency content. One video titled "Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC's $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION" was live at the time of writing.
The Supreme Court administration has launched an investigation into the breach, and the channel's link has been disabled, according to reports by Bar and Bench.
The hack comes at a time when the court was scheduled to hear several significant cases, including a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on judicial appointments and an appeal in the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute.
Ripple Labs, the company behind XRP, previously sued YouTube in 2020 for failing to prevent scammers from impersonating its CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, in cryptocurrency schemes.
