Ahead of the upcoming assembly polls in the state, the Samajwadi Party on Saturday wrote to the Election Commission seeking the removal of two IAS and two IPS officers to ensure free and fair elections in Uttar Pradesh. These officers were working like 'BJP workers', reads the letter sent by SP secretary Rajendra Chaudhary.

The chief opposition party has sought the removal of Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avanish Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal, Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order Prashant Kumar, and ADG Special Task Force Amitabh Yash.

Free and fair elections would not be possible in the state unless they are removed as these officers hold influential positions, the letter alleged.
