Prominent Rajput leader shot dead at Jaipur home, gangster claims involvement

A prominent Rajput leader, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, was fatally shot at his residence in Jaipur today.
Gogamedi, who headed the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, succumbed to bullet injuries sustained during the attack, which occurred shortly after three men, believed to have had tea with him, opened fire at close range. Two of his associates also suffered gunshot wounds and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Gogamedi was pronounced dead.
The outfit led by Gogamedi is distinct from the Rajput Karni Sena, which spearheaded protests against the Bollywood movie 'Padmaavat.' Gogamedi had separated from the Karni Sena, then under Lokendra Singh Kalvi's leadership, in 2015, forming his own faction.
Distressing CCTV footage captures Gogamedi, along with his associates and three other individuals, seated in a room.
The video shows one of the men abruptly opening fire at the Rajput leader, with another associate also becoming a target. Shockingly, even after Gogamedi ceases movement, the assailants continue firing, discharging at least four bullets into his body.
The incident reportedly occurred around 12:30 pm, during which Gogamedi's security personnel retaliated by shooting at the assailants, resulting in the death of one perpetrator. The remaining attackers fled the scene on a snatched bike.
Expressing shock over the incident, Union Minister and BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat conveyed his concerns, emphasising the imperative need for the swift apprehension of the culprits. He affirmed that ensuring the state's safety remains a top priority for the upcoming BJP government, having recently secured victory in the Assembly polls, displacing the ruling Congress.
A member of the Goldy Brar gang, Rohit Godara Kapurisr, claimed responsibility for the attack through a Facebook post. He alleged that Gogamedi had been supporting their adversaries, leading to the orchestrated assault.
