Mumbai, Delhi: In connection with the BMW hit-and-run case where the son of a Shiv Sena (Shinde) leader is the prime accused, the licence of a Mumbai bar has been temporarily suspended over alleged violations, NDTV reported.

Police informed that the accused, Mihir Shah, son of Rajesh Shah, was heavily drunk and was on a joyride, following which he hit a bike, leaving a woman dead.

Before the collision, Mihir and his driver had purchased beer from the Sai Prasad Bar in Malad, which got its license suspended now and drank inside the car. This was after having a session involving alcohol with his friends at a Juhu bar.

According to police, the bar's licence was suspended because they sold beer to the accused after the deadline. Also, when the bar was raided, police found that its security camera footage was deleted.

Before Shah came to Malad bar, he had already drunk a dozen 60 ml glasses of whiskey at the Vice Gopal Tapas Bar in Juhu. The bar, parts of which were demolished for serving liquor to 24-year-old Shah, claimed that he had shown them a false ID, which stated him as 27-year-old.

Mihir allegedly drove a BMW car and rammed Kaveri Nakhwa (45) while injuring her husband, Pradeep, in Mumbai's Worli area. The two were travelling on their two-wheeler. CCTV footage showed that the deceased got dragged for 1.5 km after the collision. After that, Mihir switched seats with his driver, removed the woman's body from the car, left it on the road and drove away, police said.
