Dehradun: According to Dhan Singh Rawat, state minister for medical education, medical courses will begin being taught in both English and Hindi in Uttarakhand beginning with the coming academic year. Following Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand will be the second state to do so in the nation.

According to the minister, the State Medical Education Department established a four-person expert committee with Dr CMS Rawat as its chairman. Dr Rawat is the principal of the Government Medical College in Srinagar, which is located in the Pauri district. The committee, according to the minister, would review the MBBS Hindi syllabus used in Madhya Pradesh government institutions before preparing a draft of a new syllabus for the colleges of Uttarakhand, ANI reported.

The MBBS programme in Hindi will begin in government medical institutes with the upcoming session after receiving the draught and finishing all other processes, the minister said. He claimed that this choice was made in light of the Center's unique emphasis on Hindi.

As part of a large-scale initiative by the Madhya Pradesh government to provide medical education in the Hindi language, Union Home Minister Amit Shah released textbooks in Hindi for three subjects for MBBS students on October 16.
