New Delhi: The father of the man who allegedly attacked actor Saif Ali Khan claimed that police arrested a wrong person.

Ruhul Amin told India Today that the person seen in CCTV visuals did not match with Shariful Islam Shehzad’s appearance, his son and alleged attacker.

Amin explained that the man in the footage wore ‘unusually long hair’ but Shariful sported army-style haircut.

Shariful's father added that his son after completing secondary education started driving bike-rickshaw to support the family.

His claims notwithstanding, the fingerprints from Saif Ali Khan's Bandra residence reportedly matched those of the accused.

Fingerprints were found on the duct pipe (which the attacker used to break into the residence) the door handle of the actor’s youngest son Jeh's room and the bathroom door.

Meanwhile, a cap with hair strands on it, recovered from Jehs’ room, was to undergo a DNA analysis at a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).

The actor's house help was reportedly the first to notice the intruder inside the actor’s son Jeh’s room.

A third part of the knife used in the crime was recovered from a lake in Bandra on January 22.

The 2.5-inch-long knife’s first part got lodged in the actor’s body during the attack.

Shariful, who was arrested in Thane a few days after the incident, has been sent to a five-day police remand following his arrest.

Shortly after the attack that left the actor with serious wounds, the police claimed that the suspect was a Bangladeshi national.

Later, India Today reportedly accessed the accused’s driving license confirming that Shariful is a Bangladeshi national.
