New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP wants to stop the free power supply in the capital city. He added that the party will not succeed in its efforts. The AAP chief was speaking ahead of the civic body elections.

The AAP needs to get 230 out of the 250 seats at MCD to come to power at both the state level and in the civic body.

The BJP is in power at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and has called free electricity a "freebie." Speaking at Paharganj, Kejriwal said if BJP wins the December 4 elections, it will stop all the developmental works in the city. "If BJP wins, all developmental works will stop. They will fight with us every day, like they are doing now. AAP should be in power at both places, only Kejriwal will ensure that work is done."

The AAP government announced the free electricity scheme in Delhi in 2019 and is making similar promises in Gujarat ahead of the elections. "They (BJP) act like they are doing us a favour - as if we are beggars. Why do they keep calling it a freebie? It is because they want to stop the free supply of electricity in Delhi. But power supply will remain free until Kejriwal is alive," said the two-time CM of Delhi.

Kejriwal also said garbage management in the city was BJP's responsibility. But once AAP comes to power at the MCD, it will tackle the issue. "Give AAP one opportunity. Just like we have made power and water supplies free, we will tackle the garbage issue too. I've heard some landfill sites are going to come up," he said.
