India recorded 12 deaths from covid over the past week showing major cut in morality and spread of the virus.

Variants of covid -19 continue to cause health crisis globally with infection rates keep rising since early November.

India reported zero deaths for three days in the past week, which is the fewest among covid fatalities since March 2020.

Covid cases have been steadily declining in India for nearly five months, despite people largely going about without wearing masks.

Infection rates began to fall from the peak of 1.36 lakh fresh cases that were recorded on July 18-24, according to The Times of India.

There has been no reversal of the cases except for two slight surges that were previously recorded.

The 12 deaths from covid in the past week suggest India has nearly harnessed the pandemic, compared to the surge in cases being reported in many countries.

The number of fresh covid case showed an increase in several countries in Asia and Europe in recent weeks, according to the report.

As per worldometers.info, there have been a rise in seven-day average of covid cases since November 2 reporting 3.3 lakh cases.

China of all nations is the worst affected with the nation requiring to impose strict covid norms until recently.

A raging mass protest against the lockdowns finally forced authorities to lift restrictions.

However, reports from China last week said authorities had asked hospital staff to continue work despite being infected.

Japan reported over 1 million fresh cases recorded in the past seven days, marking a rise of 23% over the previous seven, according to the worldometers website that tracks Covid numbers.

Covid cases began to surge in Brazil, Germany, and Hong Kong, while Taiwan reported over 1 lakh new infections in the past seven days.

Covid infections remain high in France with 3.9 lakh cases and the US reported 2.5 lakh although infections are now on the decline there.
