If budget is good why Indians leaving the country: Opposition in parliament
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Opposition members in Lok Sabha called out the government over what they said having no ‘roadmap to make India developed’, The Indian Express reported.
Samajwadi Party member Akhilesh Yadav came down heavily on the union budget saying it targeted people ‘who are very wealthy, big people and industrialists’.
Pointing to the deportation of illegal immigrants from the US, he said that ‘the roadmap is not visible because as the Budget was unveiled, we have seen those pictures… in those pictures, hathon me hathkadi aur pairon me bediyan (handcuffs and shackles) are seen.’
Referencing PM Modi’s two-nation visit, Yadav without taking his name said ‘If possible, bring some more Indians with you’.
Raising the issue of deportation again, Congress member Saleng A Sangma asked if the budge was good why the citizen of India were fleeing to get better jobs in other countries, adding that it was unfortunate to see Indians brought home from the US shackled, chained like prisoners.
Yadav hit out at the government for ‘problems’ that pilgrims faced at the Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.
‘People faced problems and it happened for the first time that people were stuck in a 300 km jam… Two Chief Ministers had to be deputed… Their office bearers had to make an appeal that BJP workers should come out to help the people,’ Yadav was quoted as saying.
During Zero Hour, Congress MP Manish Tewari also raised concerns over deportation of some Indians from the US ‘in handcuffs and shackles’.
Tewari was still speaking about deportation when Jagdambika Pal, who was chairing, turned to the next speaker.
Later, taking to social media platform X, Tewari said that his microphone was shut off when he raised the issue of deportation of Indian in handcuffs, adding that this ‘completely robbed of basic human dignity and rights.’
