Hubballi: On Friday, additional police officers were stationed at the Idgah Ground in Hubballi, Karnataka, to help keep the peace as the Ganesh idol was being immersed.

The Karnataka High Court authorised the Rani Chennamma Maidana Gajanana Utsav Mahamandali to erect a Ganesh idol on August 30 and ruled that there was no title dispute over it in contrast to the Idgah ground in Bengaluru. Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations were held on the ground under heavy security, according to the Indian Express.

Police officers set up their patrols along the one-kilometre route from the Idgah site in Deshpande Nagar to the Glasshouse area, where the Ganesh idol will be submerged in a man-made body of water, on Friday. As a precaution, a bomb squad has also been sent out.

According to sources, police officers have been stationed on buildings and have been instructed to keep an eye out during the march and to act right away if any suspicious conduct is noticed.

The jewellery and clothing adorning the Ganesh idol, according to the organisers, will be auctioned off after which the Ganesh idol would be taken for immersion. The Ganesh Utsav celebrations must be completed by noon on Friday, according to the municipal corporation.
