Drunken mans harassment: Maliwal hits BJP for drama allegations

New Delhi: On BJP accusing Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal of portraying the national capital and its police forces in a bad light, Maliwal ferociously hit back.

Maliwal tweeted that the accusing statements by BJP leaders against her were "dirty lies" and that such attacks would never deter her, NDTV reported.

On Thursday, Maliwal had complained about how she was harassed and dragged by a drunk man outside AIIMS. His hand had gotten stuck in the man's car window as he tried to flee.

On Saturday, Swati tweeted in Hindi that she wanted to tell all those who think that they will scare her by spreading such dirty lies about her. She had done many big things in such a short life, with a shroud over her head, and was attacked many times but did not stop, she wrote.

She said that with every attack on her, the fire in her grows stronger, and no one can suppress her voice. She will keep fighting as long as she is alive, she wrote.

On Friday, some BJP members claimed that Maliwal staged the harassment incident to malign the national capital's name, trying to establish that it is an unsafe place for women. She also intended to put the police there in a bad light, they alleged.

According to BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva, the 47-year-old Harish Chandra Suryavanshi, the accused in the harassment incident, was an Aam Aadmi Party supporter. In an attempt to establish that the accused has AAP links, Sachdeva released a photo of AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal campaigning, and in the background, the accused was seen.

More BJP leaders adopted the picture to enforce that the accused and Maliwal staged the incident and claimed that the "drama" had been exposed.
