Around three persons are dead and several others got injured after an under-construction building collapsed in the Azad Market area of the national capital on Friday (September 9).

Work was going on at the building when it suddenly collapsed around 8:50 am. As per initial reports, five laborers were injured in the mishap, while six to seven others are feared trapped under the rubble.

Rescue efforts are underway. Four fire tenders have been rushed to the site.

Delhi Fire Service Ravinder Singh told ANI, "Rescue operation is on. As per info, around 6-7 laborers are trapped. Five injured have been referred to hospital. The NDRF team has also reached out. We are also detecting through live detectors. JCB unable to reach the spot due to a narrow lane."

Delhi DCP said prima facie, that the building collapsed because the structure could not bear weight.
