Vikramaditya Singh, a Congress leader from Himachal Pradesh, resigned as the public works minister amid growing discontent over Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu's leadership. Singh cited the current circumstances as the reason for his resignation and expressed his intention to consult with his constituents before deciding on his next steps.

His decision to resign comes on the heels of six Congress MLAs cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections, leading to the defeat of the party's candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi. This event, coupled with Singh's resignation, has brought to light the rift between factions loyal to CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and state unit chief Pratibha Singh.

Vikramaditya Singh, son of Pratibha Singh and former CM Virbhadra Singh, criticized the government for neglecting the contributions of MLAs and attempting to suppress their voices. He also lamented the government's failure to find a suitable location for installing a statue of his father, who served as CM six times.

Singh stated that he has communicated with the party's high command, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the national president, regarding recent developments and emphasized that the decision now lies with them.

In response to these political developments, BJP MLAs met with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, expressing concerns that the Assembly Speaker might take action against them or disqualify Congress legislators who cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha election. They highlighted the issuance of notices to Congress MLAs who voted for the BJP candidate, indicating potential action under the anti-defection law.
