New Delhi: Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday reached out to the king of Jordan, discussing Canada’s diplomatic issues with India.

This comes hours after Trudeau dialed up UAE president Mohamed Bin Zayed to discuss India and the "rule of law".

Diplomatic relations between Canada and India hit a roadblock after Canadian prime minister accused India of involvement in the killing of Khlistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Prime minister’s office stated that Prime Minister had discussed with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan ‘the situation between Canada and India, underscoring the importance of respecting the rule of law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.’

On Sunday Trudeau took to social media platform X to say that he had discussed with Mohamed Bin Zayed of UAE the current situation in Israel, adding that ‘We also spoke about India and the importance of upholding - and respecting - the rule of law.’

Days after G20 in Delhi last month, Trudeau alleged that Indian government agents were behind shooting Nijjar.

‘Canada has shared the credible allegations that I talked about on Monday with India. We did that many weeks ago. We are there to work constructively with India. We hope that they engage with us so that we can get to the bottom of this very serious matter,’ he was quoted as saying at a press meet.

However, India denied allegations saying that Canada supplied no specific information to support its charges, and asked Indians in Canada and those travelling to the country to exercise ‘utmost caution’.

Nijjar, chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force, was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Canada's British Columbia in June.
