Mumbai: Hours after emerging from jail, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut caused dismay in political circles after he praised the new Maharashtra government.

Sanjay Raut spent over hundred days in jail in money laundering case until a special PMLA court granted him bail Thursday.

A visibly weak Raut told media about his travel plans which included a meeting with deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss public interest work and next he would meet PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, according to India Today.

Sanjay Raut, who is known for his rabble-rousing speeches in Shiv Sena circles, raised many brows when he praised the Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde.

Raut said he would not oppose the good decisions taken by the new government in the state alongside adding that his opposition to the BJP would continue.

When he was pointed out that his words sounded contradictory, Raut said he was a member of the parliament and, added stressing his right to meet leaders as home minister is of the entire nation.

Raut also said his family had traumatic time when he was in jail and suffered a lot.

As well as alleging "political vendetta" behind arrest, he said he would not blame central agencies for his suffering.
