Mumbai: A trailer went haywire, hitting at least 50 vehicles near Ambernath in Mumbai, and the driver was learned to be under the influence of alcohol. The shocking incident sent waves of chaos, and locals threw stones at the out-of-control vehicle giant on Thursday afternoon, The Free Press Journal reported.

The trailer was running in the wrong direction, hit a vehicle at the Nevalkar Naka, and then proceeded to collide with multiple vehicles along the route, including those at Palegaon, Ambernath Anandnagar Police Chowki, Vaibhav Hotel Chowk, and Sudama Hotel Chowk, the report stated.

Those vehicles the drunken driver rammed into included cars, motorcycles, rickshaws, and even a police mobile. The driver reportedly attacked a motorcyclist with a rod.

There were visuals online that showed the driver driving the trailer forward and backwards, hitting the stranded vehicles on the road. Some people attacked the trailer using stones, pelting them at the driver. People in the vicinity shot the incident on their devices.

Later, police and rickshaw drivers chased the trailer, and the driver lost complete control, and the trailer overturned in the Anandnagar MIDC area.

However, no fatalities were reported, though some vehicle occupants and pedestrians were injured.

Police arrested the driver immediately after the incident and started an investigation.
