A mystery man likely to inherit Ratan Tata's Rs 500 Crore assets
text_fieldsMumbai: Business tycoon Ratan Tata who died on October 9, 2024 left in his will a third of his assets to a man little known to the billionaire’s family and close circle, according to NDTV.
Mohini Mohan Dutta will inherit India’s most respected industrialist’s assets worth Rs 500 crore.
The wealth will be distributed to Dutta, though mentioned in Tata’s will as one of the inheritors, only after the probate by the high court taking at least six months.
Jamshedpur-based entrepreneur, Mohini Mohan Dutta was the co-owner of Stallion, in which he had 80 per cent stake before the merger with Tata Services while Tata Industries had remaining 20 percent stake.
At Tata’s funeral, Dutta disclosed he was only 24 years old when he had met the businessman at the Dealers Hostel in Jamshedpur.
Dutta earlier told the media Tata ‘helped me out and really built me up’.
However, few in the close circle of Tata had heard about Dutta before his name appeared in the will.
Dutta however is reported to have nearly six-decade association with Tata.
He was reportedly invited to the businessman’s birth anniversary celebrations in Mumbai in December 2024, with only close associates and family members in attendance.
It is reported that Dutta's daughter worked first with Tata’s Taj Hotels until 2015, before being employed at Tata Trusts until 2024.
Made public nearly two weeks after his death, Tata’s will has several beneficiaries including his brother, half-sisters, household staff and executive assistant Shantanu Naidu.
He left provisions to take care of his pet dog, Tito as well.
