Encounter at Machil sector in Kupvara district ended up in 4 Army men loosing their life and making other three injured in the encounter including one BSF personal and 3 militants. Encounter happened near to Line of Control ( Loc) in morning 1 AM, 3 Km away from LoC.

Meanwhile, Srinagar-based defence spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said that at about 1 am, a BSF patrol noticed suspicious movement near the Anti-Infiltration Obstacle System (LoC fence), about 3.5 km from the LoC

Kaliya said that militants were trying to infiltrate through Loc organized the attack .

The BSF personnel challenged the infiltrators and a gunbattle ensued, in which a militant was killed, he said. First encounter longed for three hours, started at 1 AM and ended by 4 AM and army killed militants in second encounter started at 10 AM.

A firefight ensued in which one terrorist was killed. A BSF soldier was killed in action. Firefight stopped at 4 a.m.

"More troops were rushed to the area. Terrorists movement was tracked by surveillance devices," army said.

Contact was re-established at 10.20 a.m., when heavy fire was drawn by Indian search parties approximately 1.5 km from the LoC, the army said. In the ensuing gunfight two more terrorists were killed along with three soldiers who laid down their lives while two others were injured. "Injured soldiers have been evacuated." army said

The operation is in progress and further details are awaited, the army said.

Meanwhile J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tributes to the security personnel who laid down their lives during the encounter with militants in Machil sector on Sunday.

He saluted the supreme sacrifice of the jawans and offered his deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
