Mumbai: Director Ram Gopal Varma and actor Anupam Kher have taken to social media to shower praise on the cast of the movie Gadar 2.
Directed by Anil Sharma, the film features Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprising their roles as Tara Singh and Sakeena.
Ram Gopal Varma, known for 'Rangeela', expressed his appreciation for the cast selection in Anil Sharma's Gadar 2. In a social media post, he highlighted the rarity of heroes on screen matching their real age, a phenomenon that adds authenticity to the film.
In his tweet, Varma wrote, "Against all conventional wisdom, Films of 60+ OLD HEROES doing 60+ OLD CHARACTERS are becoming BIGGER BLOCKBUSTERS than the films of younger heroes as PROVED by #KamalHaasan's VIKRAM, #Rajinikant's JAILER and #SunnyDeol's GADAR 2."
Anupam Kher, acclaimed for his roles in films like Special 26 and Baby, also took to social media to express his admiration for Gadar 2 and lead actor Sunny Deol. He shared his thoughts on the film's emotional impact and its celebration of India's cultural diversity and patriotism.
In his X post, Kher mentioned, "Gadar 2 is a tsunami of emotions felt not only by the actors on screen but also by the audiences in the theatre. The film Gadar 2, a sequel to the 2001 hit Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, centers around the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. Sunny Deol's character, Tara Singh, returns to Pakistan to bring his son Charanjeet (played by Utkarsh Sharma) back home. Alongside Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the movie features Utkarsh Sharma and Manish Wadhwa in significant roles.
The film was released on August 11 and has already garnered over Rs 494 crore worldwide, emerging as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023.
