Tata's Air India goes for shopping planes at Boeing and Airbus

New Delhi: Air India is all set to upgrade its ageing fleets in a bid to turn around the company's finances and improve service levels, according to Reuters.
Tata Group-owned airliner is in talks with plane manufacturers Boeing and Airbus to place new orders, lease planes and repairing grounded aircraft, the airline's chief reportedly said.
Campbell Wilson who is the chief executive of Air India revealed at a Tata corporate event in Mumbai that the company was discussing with Boeing and Airbus for a historic order.
The latest generation of aircraft, according to him, would power the airliner's medium-and long-term growth.
With expanding its fleet the Air India is aiming to up its market share in next five years to 30 per cent on both domestic and international routes, he said.
Industry estimates show that Air India's domestic business is pegged at 10 per cent while possessing an international market share of 12 per cent.
Earlier in July the airliner reportedly was considering a 50 billion worth order between Airbus and Boeing.
